Overlook Elementary School Principal Mrs. Carla Greene is retiring from Abington School District after 14 years as principal at Overlook and 23 years in Abington Schools. In secret, students and staff learned and rehearsed a surprise flash dance to honor her last day at the morning flag raising ceremony. Also during the flag raising, Mrs. Greene honored Reading Teacher Ms. Marie Reynolds who is retiring after 20 years in Abington.
Under the direction of music teacher Ms. Julie Maragos, students and staff stood up and began dancing and singing to “We Are Family” after the flag raising ceremony. In addition, the school presented a tribute sign to be placed in the special Greene Literacy Garden developed in front of the school in honor of Mrs. Greene, a place for students to serenely read.
