Abington School District Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Fecher was named the recipient of the Friend of Education Award by the Mideastern Region of the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA). He was recognized at the chapter’s Region House of Delegates meeting on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
The prestigious award is bestowed annually upon an individual or organization whose leadership, acts, or support has significantly benefited education, education employees, or students in the Mideastern Region. Dr. Fecher was recognized for his advocacy for the staff and students in the Abington School District, where he has served as Superintendent since November 2018. He previously served as the Assistant Superintendent, as well as, Principal of Abington Senior High School, and Principal-elect of Willow Hill Elementary School.
This is the first time in the history of the Friend of Education Award that the Mideastern Region PSEA has awarded it to a sitting Superintendent. Some of the past recipients have included state legislators, intermediate unit directors, association staff, and community leaders.
