After a challenging school year filled with hybrid learning and zoom lessons, the top teachers in the region received some much-deserved recognition from the Phillies and their fans.

On Monday, May 3, the top 10 Phillies All-Star Teachers from 2021, along with those from 2020 (as fans were not allowed at last year’s games), were honored at that night’s 7:05 p.m. game against the Milwaukee Brewers as part of the 21st annual Teacher Appreciation Night powered by Constellation, a leading competitive energy provider. The teachers were selected from hundreds of nominations sent to the Phillies by their current and former students, parents and peers.

Among the honorees was Ms. Karima Boyd, an Elementary Curriculum Specialist at Overlook Elementary School, who was nominated by her former student, Daulton Larr, who is now in 7th grade at Abington Junior High School. Ms. Boyd was Daulton’s 4th grade teacher when he was at Copper Beech Elementary School.

As part of the tribute, the Phillies All-Star Teachers were recognized prior to the start of the game both from the Rooftop of Ashburn Alley at Citizen’s Bank Park, as well as on PhanaVision. Video highlights from a recent Phillies All-Star Teacher zoom call with manager Joe Girardi were also shown on the big screen. In addition, the top teachers who received an Honorable Mention were given the chance to dance with the Phillie Phanatic in the 7th inning. For more information, please visit phillies.com/community.
