Teacher Appreciation Week has taken on a whole new meaning this year among extended school closures due to the coronavirus pandemic. Recognizing how Abington School District’s educators have gone above and beyond during these unprecedented times for the benefit of all students, the Abington Educational Foundation (AEF) decided to mark Teacher Appreciation Week 2020 with a new gratitude campaign: #AEFThanksASD.
Teacher Appreciation Week this year is being celebrated Monday, May 4, through Friday, May 8, and leading up to the week’s kickoff, the AEF asked students and their families to submit messages of gratitude through an online portal, called the Teacher Tribute Page. More than 100 submissions in total were received, spanning ASD’s nine schools, ranging from video compilations, to photo collages, to artwork, and heartwarming written messages.
These messages will be sent direct to the teachers in each school building, but to show just a taste of their appreciation, the AEF teamed up with ASD administration to put together a thank you video to share on social media. The video includes a message of thanks from Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Fecher and AEF Chair Christine Strange. The video is available via the Abington School District YouTube channel:
