Dear Abington School District Families,

I write to share an update regarding school closure. Earlier today, Governor Wolf announced the closure of all schools in Pennsylvania through the remainder of the academic year. While our Abington School District team is disappointed that we will not be able to see our students in our classrooms again this school year, we understand this decision was made with the health and safety of our entire school community in mind.

We are in unprecedented times, but our Continuity of Education Plan is in place so that we can support our students’ learning as best as possible through the remainder of the school year. As we continue this process, we are constantly working to make our plan stronger. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teachers and/or principal should you have concerns or feedback. We are committed to working with our families to make this situation as best as possible. I appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we adapt to this new format and make adjustments, as needed.

We are working on addressing our grading and attendance procedures, as well as, designing ways to honor our students through various milestones like graduation. To be sure, we are following guidance and directives from the Governor and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Please know that as soon as we have come to conclusions on these topics and receive additional guidance, I will ensure that you have timely communication. In the interim, you can find information and updates on our Coronavirus Resource Center

Please have a safe, healthy, and restful few days of break and enjoy this time with your family. Remember that we are all in this together.

Regards,

Jeffrey S. Fecher, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
