Last week, students enrolled in Abington Senior High School’s German classes said “auf wiedersehen” (goodbye) to their exchange students, who had been staying with Abington families since the end of August. This year marked the 20th year of the program that brings students to our area from Bad Reichenhall, Germany, located in Bavaria near the Austrian border and the city of Salzburg. During their three-week stay, the 52 German exchange students attended classes and participated in activities at the Senior High, in addition to touring our region, including taking day trips to Philadelphia, Lancaster, New York City and Washington, D.C. The exchange students also left with what are hoped to be lasting connections with their host families.
