The Abington Senior High School varsity boys basketball team advanced to the District One Class 6A championship game, scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Liacouras Center at Temple University. The Ghosts will face Coatesville.
Abington defeated Pennridge 50-38 in the District One Class 6A semifinals on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, to advance to the championship game. Lucas Monroe (16), Maurice Henry (13) and Manir Waller (10) all reached double-figures in points scored for the Ghosts.
Head Coach Charles Grasty and the team are vying for their fourth District Championship in five years. The Abington boys basketball program won District One titles in 2015, 2017, and 2018, as well as in 1982 and 1986.
Pre-sale tickets for the game are available for $10 in the Athletic Office, and will end at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 1.
In addition, fan buses will be available for ASHS students, departing the school at 4:30 p.m. on game day. It is required that students return on the fan bus as well. Sign-ups will be held during all lunch periods on Friday in cafeteria A, and must be accompanied by a ticket purchase, with money due at signup.
