Two players from the world-famous Harlem Wizards visited elementary schools across Abington School District on Tuesday, April 3 to do a pre-game warm-up assembly in preparation for their April 21 games against the teachers and principals. The assembly consisted of talking with the students about basketball skills, as well as demonstrations of the team’s talents in “trick hoops and alley oops.”

This is the second consecutive year the team will play a special game at Abington Senior High School. Last year’s Wizards event was so popular with the sold-out crowd that there will be two shows for 2018 — one at 2 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. The event serves as an annual fundraiser for the Abington Educational Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed at enhancing educational experiences and outcomes for Abington School District students through grants that support student achievement, innovative programs and STEAM initiatives.

Founded in 1962, the Wizards have played over 15,000 games throughout the U.S. that have raised more than $25 million for schools and charitable causes. The Wizards have also played in over 25 foreign countries across five continents.

Tickets for the 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. games on April 21 in the Abington Senior High School gymnasium are now on sale, and more information is available at www.aef-pa.org.
